Make: How to Make an Awesome Death star Pinata

More Than Thursdays: Star Wars Birthday Party

What we learned

1. This is a multiple day project so plan accordingly. This project takes some patience waiting for the paper mâché and paints to dry.

2. The more layers, the harder it’ll be to bust open the pinata.

3. You can purchase paper mâché paste at a craft store, but it’s easy to make by just mixing flour and water.

4. Use painter’s tape to form the painted sections of your Death Star.

5. If you use duct tape to cover the string hole on your Death Star, you will have to freehand paint that area. Otherwise the painter’s tape will lift the spray paint off your pinata.

6. Use a spray paint that is also a primer.
