Little Artists: Egg Crate Mermaids

We’ve partnered with our friends at the Niantic Farmers Market to celebrate the Market’s 10th anniversary! This year the Market debuted the Market Mermaids. Make your own Market Mermaid at home using our template and an egg crate!

Messy level: 3 (paint)
(5 = Super messy. 1 = Not messy at all.)

Materials

  • Empty egg carton
  • Paints
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock

Instructions

1. Print out the Market Mermaids template on heavy cardstock. Cut out your favorite mermaid or make all three!

2. Cut your egg carton into sections.

3. Using the leftover egg carton top, cut out a mermaid fin.

4. Paint your tail pieces. Let dry.

5. Cut a slit in the middle of your top tail piece. Slide your mermaid into the slit.

6. Hot glue your tail sections together. Add as many or as few as you like.

7. Glue your fin to the bottom of your tail to complete your mermaid!
