World Oceans Day: Watercolor Scallop Shell

We’re celebrating World Oceans Day all week long with ocean-related crafts. Today we honor our seaside home of Niantic and its village sigil the scallop shell!

Messy level: 3 (watercolor paints)
(5 = Super messy. 1 = Not messy at all.)

Materials

  • Paper plate
  • Watercolor paints
  • Paint brush
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Yarn

Instructions

1. Cut plate into a scallop shape by cutting small curves out of each side.

2. Get creative! Let your little artist paint away. (Be sure to let completely dry before Step 3.)

3. Punch 3-4 holes, evenly spaced, at the top and bottom of your shell.

4. Finish your shell by threading yarn through the holes and tie ends together to secure.
