Summer Science Days: Chemistry

July 1, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm EDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until July 5, 2019

Join us for a summer filled with science, learning and wonder at the Children’s Museum of Southeastern CT. We’ll be exploring a different science each week from July 1 to August 23 (from 9:30am-4pm) with demonstrations (from 10:30am-3:30pm) and hands-on activities. All activities are FREE with Museum admission thanks to the generosity of Pfizer, our Summer Science Days sponsor.

Chemistry – July 1-3 & 5

Children explore reactions between household items to create fun concoctions such as Slime and Oobleck (a fascinating substance that is both a liquid and a solid). They will make their own tie-dye chromatography to take home. Children will also do color mixing activities and learn how water molecules are attracted to each other, along with learning about the mystery of Nano Sand. Guests will participate in demonstrations such as the Exploding Geyser, the Bubbling Lava Lamp and Rocket Reactions and then find out how they work!
