Summer Science Days: Earth Science

August 5, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm EDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until August 9, 2019

Join us for a summer filled with science, learning and wonder at the Children’s Museum of Southeastern CT. We’ll be exploring a different science each week from July 1 to August 23 (from 9:30am-4pm) with demonstrations (from 10:30am-3:30pm) and hands-on activities. All activities are FREE with Museum admission thanks to the generosity of Pfizer, our Summer Science Days sponsor.

Earth Science – August 5-9

Children will experience different aspects of earth science including the effects of pollution on earth, natural disasters, and oceanography. Visitors will learn about point and nonpoint sources of pollution in the environment and the effects of both on wetlands, estuaries, the ocean, beaches and even coral reefs and shellfish beds through hands on activities simulated with one of our EnviroScapes®. We will learn about volcanoes and have hands-on time with live creatures, seaweed samples, and seashells from local beaches. Guests will also explore rocks, gems and fossils.
